TRADITIONAL B&W PHOTOGRAPHY | ANALOG/FILM

 

This 16-week beginner's course covers the practical aspects of photography by focusing on traditional B&W photography

All aspects taught in this manual-analog photography course can and will be applied onto your digital cameras

 

ALL PARTICIAPNTS ARE SUPPORTED BY:

    -  Small, supportive classes of 3 participants per each course only

    -  Studio with professional lighting equipment

    -  On-site Darkroom with enlarging stations

    -  Free Studio & Darkroom use for the students (some limitations may apply).

    -  All development chemicals & photographic paper used are included

    -  Total of 16 classes (each session is 1½ hours) allows for in-depth discussions & practicals for each aspect to be covered

    -  Each course is approximately 4 months from start to finish

 

COURSE OVERVIEW:

     -  Understanding the photographic camera: Parts & functions.

     -  Methods & applications of photography

     -  Light metering, depth of field, movement, etc.

     -  Darkroom processing from start to finish

     -  Film developing

      -  Printing of photographs

      -  Introduction to studio lighting

       - Brief history of the medium, criticism & introduction to historical &  contemporary photographers

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY | BEGINNERS

 

The participants will have an introduction on how to use digital cameras and experience important techniques. Additionally, through the view of important photographers, the aim is to develop their visual knowledge.  

 

This 16-week course meets once a week for approximately 2 hours and is based on shooting using digital cameras, editing and critiquing once a week.

 

Through the selection and discussion of the best images of the week, the participants will have the opportunity to see their technique and their overall approach improve week by week.  

 

The purpose is to guide the participants through theoretical, technical and aesthetic issues towards developing their own photographic identity. At the end of the course each participant will create a photographic portfolio that can be used as the base of their further development as photographers.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY | ADVANCED

 

This 16-week advance workshop meets once a week for approximately 2 hours and is based on shooting using digital cameras, editing and critiquing once a week.

 

Through the selection and discussion of the best images of the week, the students will have the opportunity to see their technique and their overall approach improve week by week. The purpose is to guide the participants through theoretical, technical and aesthetic issues towards developing their own photographic identity.

 

At the end of the course each participant will create a photographic portfolio that can be used as the base of their further development as photographers.

PORTFOLIO REVIEWS

 

A portfolio review is an opportunity to have your selected body of work reviewed and critiqued for future artistic development and improvement. It includes:

Image Critiques, which are detailed walk-throughs of individual photographs (including impact of the image, technical quality of capture, lighting, mood/feel, posing/placement, and composition)

A Detailed Review of the quality of post-processing, and any suggestions for improvement

An assesment of the overall style of the work

 

Portfolio reviews can be set up for individuals, as well as for groups.
